Mindfulness Practices in Daily Life

An introduction to mindfulness. This class teaches the basics of mindfulness, how to develop a mindfulness meditation practice, and how mindfulness can be applied in daily life for stress relief. It is also appropriate for experienced practitioners who want a refresher or group to practice with.

Class consists of some instruction, but the majority of time will be spent practicing activities of mindfulness.

No experience necessary.

Special Requirements

Comfortable clothing that allows for comfortable sitting. Dress in layers, bring a light blanket, water bottle, meditation cushion and yoga mat if you have one. Mats, cushions and blankets will be available in the Studio as well.

Registration and payment can be completed online, by phone at 906-487-2073, or at the SDC Ticket Office. You’ll receive an admission ticket to present to the instructor at class.

About the Instructor

Kim Menzel, LMSW, ACSW is a mindfulness-based cognitive therapist and owner of Indigo Creek Counseling Center, LLC, serving the local community since 2006. She graduated from the University of Michigan School of Social Work and has worked with adults and teens dealing with stress, trauma, depression, and anxiety for 25 years. Kim has had a daily mindfulness practice for 10 years and has completed training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for Professionals, Mindful Educator Essentials, and is in the process of becoming certified as a Mindfulness Meditation Teacher.
