About the Instructor
Christina Lehmann has a passion for fitness, but this wasn't always the case. As a child, Christina struggled with weight issues until she started riding her bike. An amazing thing happened. The weight came off, and she felt great. This was the start of her fitness journey.
Her journey expanded as she entered the workplace and began working for an employer that encouraged and rewarded employees for living a healthy lifestyle. She bought her first real mountain bike and started to explore riding in the woods and attended many group fitness classes instructed by motivating fitness instructors. One of those classes - indoor cycling!
Upon moving to the UP and the birth of her daughter, Christina found herself longing for a motivating group fitness community and cycling. Being new to the area and a stay-at-home mom, she struggled to find other female mountain bikers to ride the local trails with, so she walked into a local YMCA. She was soon asked to join their team as an indoor cycling instructor. Teaching helped her make connections in the community, ultimately leading to the start of a women's biking group and her next employer - Mr. Bike, Ski and Fitness.
Christina and her family moved to Houghton in 2013. She now works in the Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology and teaches PE indoor cycling classes. For fun, you'll find her trying to keep up with her husband and daughter as they explore the Keweenaw on bikes, skis, kayaks and on foot. Christina is a certified Mad Dogg Athletics Spinning Instructor.
