Private Swim Lessons

Due to the high demand for private lessons and the current wait list, we are not accepting additional private lesson customers at this time.

Private and semi-private lessons are available for participants of all ages. Lessons are sold as a single session or a 6-lesson package. Contact Ann Hoover, Fitness and Aquatics Manager, at amhoover@mtu.edu to inquire about availability of instructors. Ann and the Head Swim Instructor will locate an available instructor who will then contact the participant.

Swim lesson tickets are purchased at the SDC Ticket Office after an instructor and lesson date have been assigned. On the day of each lesson, show the lesson ticket to the desk attendant at the ID check point of the multi purpose area to receive a blue wristband (required for pool access). The instructor will collect the lesson ticket on the pool deck.

Private swim lessons are held during open swim times only and are based on availability of instructors. If a swim instructor is not available, the participant will be placed on a wait list and contacted as soon as an instructor is available. If a wait list exists, a maximum of six swim lesson sessions can be redeemed before a participant is placed back on the wait list in order to keep the list moving and give everyone an opportunity to participate. Swim lessons may resume with the same or a new instructor based on instructor availability and wait list size.
