Boys’ Basketball: Little Huskies League—Grades 3-6

Learning skills, working as a team, and having fun: that’s Michigan Tech’s Little Huskies boys’ basketball league. It’s about the best introduction to basketball you can imagine—personalized coaching that emphasizes both individual skills and team play, with plenty of time for gently competitive games in the SDC Multipurpose Gym. And Michigan Tech’s campus is a great environment for meeting new people and making friends.

What to Expect

Players will leave with fundamental basketball skills like ball handling, shooting, team play, and defensive play.

Monday - Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Scrimmage Dates (during halftime of the women's game)

  • Thursday, December 5, 5:30 pm vs Saginaw Valley State
  • Saturday, December 7, 12:00 pm vs Northwood

Kids can wear their league shirts to Men's Basketball home games for free admission!

Register online, by phone (906-487-2073) or in person at the SDC Ticket Office. Payment is due in full at the time of registration. A parent or guardian must sign a liability waiver and concussion awareness form and have on file with the SDC Ticket Office prior to participation.


Meet the Coaches

Kevin Luke

Kevin Luke, the winningest coach in Michigan Tech basketball history begins his 26th season leading the Huskies in 2019-20. He has earned a plethora of accolades since his appointment as the program’s 11th head coach in 1994. Luke has guided the Huskies to five Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles, earned eight NCAA Tournament berths and won his 300th game in a 74-72 victory over Grand Valley State in 2011.

Josh Buettner

Josh Buettner begins his 12th season as assistant men’s basketball coach at Michigan Tech in 2019-20. The Shawano, Wis., native starred for the Huskies from 2001-05. He was a two-time All-American and earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors as both a junior and senior. Buettner played professionally in Europe for three years. He played in leagues in Denmark, Switzerland and Iceland, and was named the Danish Elite League Player of the Year in his second pro campaign.
